When Debby showed up
in the gulf, she was not suppose to be much of a threat but as time went on she
changed her mind so much that even the meteorologists were shaking their heads.
She has shown us early in the season that we need to be prepared because
courses can change.
She has
also shown us that flood insurance is so important; make sure that you update
your insurance BEFORE a storm is approaching. Flood insurance does not go into
effect until 30 days after it is written and it can not be written while there
is an active storm approaching your area. It is a good idea to check your
policy, often riders for flood is pennies on the dollar.
Know also that NOT
properly treating your water damage, including but not limited to hiring an
IICRC professional, can lead to mold. Many insurance companies will not cover
mold if it is caused by a water loss that you neglected to properly dry in the
first place.
